Do you want to share your outdoor adventures with your child? Then you need a full-featured backpack child carrier.
Below is a list of what I consider to be the Top 3 Best Full-Featured Backpack Child Carriers of 2012. They offer the most in terms of storage, comfort for both you and your child, and convenience. My top 3 include the Osprey Poco Premium, the Deuter Kid Comfort III, and the Kelty Pathfinder 3.0.
Top 3 Backpack Child Carriers
1) Osprey Poco Premium – Most Comfortable For Your Child
This backpack child carrier offers plenty of storage, including hydration pack storage, waist belt storage, and a detachable daypack with two zippered pockets of its own. The cockpit and child seat is fully padded, and the child safety harness is probably one of the easiest to use. What makes this backpack child carrier really special, are the dual adjustable foot stirrups that give your child more support in the seated position. In other words, if you plan on going the distance, your child will be more comfortable for longer periods of time. The Osprey Poco Premium also offers an excellent weight distribution system, and a maximum load weight of 48.5 pounds, including child and gear. It lists for $299.00.

2) Deuter Kid Comfort III – Most Comfortable For The Wearer
The Kid Comfort III offers a ton of storage, with a large zippered compartment below the cockpit, and a large buckled compartment above, as well as waist belt storage, and hydration pack storage. It also offers a maximum load weight of 48.5 pounds. The cockpit is probably the most spacious out of all three, and it comes fully padded. This backpack child carrier features side-entry, which makes loading and unloading your little one super easy. They basically can load themselves. Now, what makes the Deuter Kid Comfort III so special, and comfortable for the wearer, is the Vari-Flex waist belt. Can I just say, Aaaammmaaazing! It actually pivots in the center, and the hip fins on each side move with your body. So instead of carrying a stiff pack up the mountain, it moves with you, following your natural movements. The Deuter Kid Comfort III lists for $298.95.

3) Kelty Pathfinder 3.0 – Most Convenient
This backpack child carrier is probably the most convenient. Not only does it offer a ton of storage, but it also comes with a detachable daypack, hydration pack storage, and tons of mesh water bottle pockets, including one on the waist belt for easy access. The shoulder straps and waist belt are padded and contoured, and almost all of the load weight is distributed to your hips. In addition, the Kelty Pathfinder 3.0 offers an auto-deploy kickstand, which pops out automatically when you loosen the shoulder straps, and likewise collapses when you tighten them. The child safety harness is also easy to use, with buckles at the shoulders and easy access leg loops below. With the Pathfinder 3.0 you can carry up to 50 pounds including your child and gear. It lists for $279.95.
