Beco Gemini – Carrying Positions

What I Love

My favorite thing about the Beco Gemini is its size. It’s sleek and stylish, not like other soft structured baby carriers that feel bulky and awkward. I also like the fact that you don’t have to purchase an infant insert to use it with a newborn, it has a width alternating base that’s extremely easy to use. In fact, you can alter the width of the seat while you’re wearing it.

I love the fact that you have the option of crossing the straps in the back while using the front carry positions. It’s more supportive. I also like that the Beco Gemini has a curved waist band. It’s more comfortable, and fit’s your body better.Beco Gemini Review

The shoulder straps and waist belt on the Beco Gemini offer plenty of padding, and the seat itself is wide enough to offer your baby plenty of support, while not being too wide that it’s constricting.

Also, the shoulder strap adjusters are attached to the carrier, which not only makes them easier to locate for adjustments, but you never have to worry about them riding up under your armpits and rubbing you raw.

Also, most, if not all of the reviewers praised the Beco Gemini for comfort, and longer wear. In fact, 39 out of 41 reviewers rated it 4 to 5 stars. That’s a 95% customer satisfaction rating, one of the highest ratings out of all the soft structured baby carriers on the market. Ya Beco Gemini, that’s impressive!

The most loved feature was definitely the versatility. Having the option of forward-facing out seemed to be the biggest benefit.

What I Don’t Like

What I don’t like about the Beco Gemini is the fact that it has no pockets, or storage of any kind. This was the number one complaint. If you’re planning an outing, you must bring an additional bag with everything you need.

It also doesn’t have a sleeping hood, which is not a huge issue for me, but some of the reviewers complained about it.

Also, the Beco Gemini is advertised as machine washable, but it’s not. In fact, a couple of the reviewers actually washed the Beco Gemini according to the instructions in the manual, only to have it come out faded and worn looking. After calling customer service they were told that it’s the nature of the organic fabric and dyes that were used. So DON’T MACHINE WASH IT! Spot treat only. One reviewer did have some luck after soaking it in vinegar before washing it.

Another common complaint was regarding the safety buckles. They take two hands to release, which can be a huge pain, especially if you’re trying not to disturb a sleeping baby. Keep in mind that safety buckles do prevent accidental opening, however several of the reviewers felt that they were unnecessary. Personally, I can’t really see how the child you’re carrying would even be able to get to these buckles, but I would be more worried about other siblings.

There were also a few complaints regarding how complex the Beco Gemini is to adjust. Personally, after watching all of the video demonstrations, I think that the Beco Gemini is one of the easiest. Hip carry, and back carry is always confusing, not matter what multi-position carrier you choose. And as far as adjusting the width of the base, you don’t even have to take the Beco Gemini off. Some soft structured carriers that convert to newborn carriers actually have buckles that need to be re-threaded. So as far as I’m concerned, those that complained about it being complex just don’t have experience. Watch the video demonstration below, and see for yourself.

All in all, if you’re looking for a comfortable, versatile baby carrier, that’s also sleek and stylish, the Beco Gemini is an excellent choice.
