Beco Gemini Vs. ERGO Performance – Baby Carrier Comparison

Beco Gemini Vs. ERGO PerformanceFinding the best soft structured baby carrier can be a bit overwhelming, especially with all the options available on the market today. Eventually what it comes down to is, available positions, weight recommendations, and comfort. If you just so happen to be comparing the ERGO Performance Baby Carrier with the Beco Gemini Baby Carrier, I might be able to help.

First of all, the Beco Gemini and the ERGO Performance both offer ergonomically correct sitting position for your little one. In other words, they sit not dangle. Both the ERGO Performance and the Beco Gemini are extremely light weight, offer high quality buckles, and high quality fabric. Both baby carriers also reviewed well.

Beco Gemini Vs. ERGO Performance – Differences:

ERGO Performance Baby Carrier

The ERGO Performance is made with 98% polyester and 2% lycra, with a cooling panel that wicks away moisture and mesh lining, making it extremely breathable.

The Beco Gemini Baby Carrier offers a shell made from 100% organic cotton, and a fill made from 100% polyester, therefore it’s a bit warmer.

The Beco Gemini also offers more adjust-ability, with shoulder straps that adjust from 23″ to 45″, and a waist belt that adjusts from 28″ to 57″. The ERGO Performance offers shoulder straps that only adjust to 23″, and a waist belt max adjustment of 48″.

The ERGO Performance does have a higher max weight of 45 pounds, and is strength tested up to 90 pounds, with a minimum weight recommendation of 15 pounds. You do have the option of purchasing an infant insert sold separately that will allow you to carry a baby from 7 to 12 pounds.

The Beco Gemini Baby Carrier has a max weight recommendation of 35.3 pounds, and a minimum weight recommendation of 7.7 pounds. With the Beco Gemini, there is no need to purchase an additional infant insert.

Perhaps one of the most important differences, at least in my book, is carrying positions. The ERGO Performance offers 3 carrying positions, front facing in, hip, and back carry. The Beco Gemini offers 4, front facing in, front facing out, hip, and back carry. To some, including myself, the front facing out position is one of the most important carrying positions. It was my daughter’s favorite, therefore my favorite.

As for the price, the Beco Gemini lists for $139.00, and the ERGO Performance lists for around $135.00. Don’t forget to include the additional cost of the infant insert, which is around $25.00, making the ERGO Performance cost around $160.00 total.

The ERGO Performance Baby Carrier may cost about $20.00 dollars more, but you get more breath-ability, almost 5 pounds more for a max weight, and a storage pocket, which comes in super handy. Plus it’s made with extremely durable material that is reinforced and strength tested. You can get the ERGO Performance Carrier currently on SALE at Amazon for $120.50.

On the opposite end of the spectrum, the Beco Gemini Baby Carrier costs $20 dollars less, offers more adjust-ability, the front facing out position, and it will keep you and your baby warmer in cooler climates. It’s also a bit more stylish, with more patterns and colors to choose from. The Beco Gemini also had the highest customer satisfaction rating out of the two, with 86% of the reviewers rating it 4 stars or more. You can get the Beco Gemini Baby Carrier currently on SALE at Amazon for $129.00.
