The Good
  • Offers 4 positions: front facing in, front facing out, hip carry, and back carry
  • Super soft and comfortable for both the baby and parent
  • Your baby is carried in a correct ergonomic position
  • Offers memory foam padded shoulder straps, so they’re not super bulky, but they provide optimal comfort and shock absorbency.
  • Shoulder straps can cross in the back for added support
  • Dual-adjustable buckles – extremely easy to adjust regardless of carrying position.
  • No infant insert necessary
  • Comes with a sleeping hood
  • Machine washable
  • Holds up to 40 pounds
The Bad
  • Waist belt is not padded – but you can purchase a separate waist belt accessory for added support when carrying a toddler.
  • No pockets for storage
  • Buckles are safety buckles, this is good and bad because it requires two hands to unbuckle.
  • Instructions are a bit complex

My Review:

Pikkolo Soft Baby Carrier

Pikkolo Soft Structured Baby Carrier

The Pikkolo Soft Structured Baby Carrier is the essence of quality and comfort. I love everything about it! Especially the memory foam shoulder straps, and the option to cross the straps in the back when carrying in the front position. I also love the front facing out carry position, or should I say, my daughter loves the front facing out carry position. The Pikkolos dual-adjust buckles make it extremely easy to cinch up perfect. My only complaint is that I wish it had some sort of storage included in the design. As for the instructions, any baby carrier can, and usually is complex, but once you figure it out it’s not a problem. Also, the current owners love their Pikkolo, and after owning other soft structured baby carriers, praise the Pikkolo for it’s comfort. By JC – LOVE it!

The Pikkolo has since more than paid for itself! Not only did I use it for wearing my newborn around the house or on family outings, I used it for hiking when he got older. I liked that you can narrow the fabric between the legs for a newborn. He’s now 15m old and I wear him on my back for hiking with no problem. Besides being able to wear him front facing in as a newborn, front facing out as a baby, and now on my back as a toddler, I have also carried my daughter on my back for hikes (36lbs, 39 inches tall). I find it comfortable with both kids, love the flexibility, especially to have the baby face out and see the world or face in to nap. It’s compact when not in use so I can stuff it under the stroller and keep in permanently in the trunk (less bulky than the Baby Bjorn), comes in some beautiful fabrics, and has held up extremely well with some hard use. I never did try the hip carry, so I can’t comment on that feature. I was hesitant to pay so much at the time, but it’s worth it! I would enthusiastically recommend this to any parent of a baby or young child!

By Michael Lauzon – Secure and comfortable

We found the Pikkolo to be secure and comfortable for around the house and light hiking. My wife and I were both able to put it on unassisted (front carry) after a little practice. Once you see which strap goes where it is easy, but I would recommend having someone else around the first time you put it on or when doing a back carry. My kid now gets excited when she sees one of us putting the pikkolo on because she knows she is going to get walked around.
