The Ergobaby Carrier and the Pikkolo Carrier are two soft structured baby carriers with a lot of similarities. They both provide an ergonomically correct sitting position for your little one. They both have added comforts such as, wide padded shoulder straps, and a waist belt. They both offer lumbar support as well as proper weight distribution between the shoulders, the back, and the hips. Both the Ergobaby and the Pikkolo offer a max weight of roughly 40 pounds, and both are made with 100% cotton, so they’re extremely comfortable and warm for your little one.
Pikkolo & Ergobaby Differences:
First of all, the minimum weight recommendation for the Pikkolo is 8 pounds, while the Ergobaby Carrier will also support an infant, you must purchase an additional infant insert, without it the minimum weight is 15 pounds.
Another key difference is the carrying positions. The Pikkolo Carrier offers 4 different carrying positions, front facing in, front facing out, hip carry, or back carry. The Ergobaby Carrier only offers three, front facing in, hip carry, or back carry, however, it does offer some storage, whereas the Pikkolo does not.
Last but not least, there is a price difference. The Ergobaby Carrier is listed for $115.00, while the Pikkolo Carrier is listed for $129.00, $14 dollars more. However, if you decide to use the Ergobaby Carrier from birth, you will have to pay an additional $25 dollars for the infant insert, therefore the Pikkolo Carrier is actually $11 dollars cheaper.
Both of these soft structures carriers take some time to get used to, as do all baby carriers. Make sure you take the time to read the instructions, and learn how each position works properly, before you carry your baby.
